March Pointscore Wrap by the President

  • by

Hi everyone,

It was a bit of a slow start for the second point score with an hour delay but all for a good cause. We had plenty of members to participate in Clean up Australia and pick up rubbish from our beach and surrounds. It did bring back some memories for me as the brat who got lots of experience having to pick up rubbish at school! A big thanks to Lara and Aiden for getting that up and running.

Once the heats got under way there were some fun waves, despite the high tide filling in. I think it was the right call to go ahead. Mark kept us fed, coming through with some awesome hotdogs for lunch and thanks to Scott we got to wash them down with a Pilsner from our new sponsors at Woonona Home Brew. As I have noticed in the last two point scores a lot of paddling up the inside and snaking in the water has been going on, from now on if you engage in this during point score your highest score for that heat will be cut in half.

Please mark in your calendars two important dates coming up for the Laybacks. Firstly Al from Woonona Home Brew will be running a tasting day for the Laybacks on Saturday 7th April with everyone invited to come along. Secondly, the day after that, Sunday 8th April is Club Championships. Please make sure you have paid before the day otherwise you cannot surf. All perpetual trophies will need to be returned on or before the day.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the Clean up Australia event before point score, it was a great job.

Cheers

Pres McCombie McCombie
