June Point Score

June Pointscore!

Hi Guys,

Well, what a perfect day we had for our June pointscore , beautiful light winds all day, and sunny warm weather almost too good for a winters day, with consistent clean waves around the 2-3ft mark in most heats, also allowing some good surfing to watch and appreciate!

As always plenty of guys helping out and contributing during the day, thank you to Andrew Wilson for doing the sign ons and heat draw, it’s a difficult job when you allocate suitable heat numbers with 5 or 6 in each and people turn up late and we finish up with 7 man heats, if you are coming late please just phone someone to let them know, it’s not too hard to do and makes life easy for us all!

Talliers’ this month were Baz and a slightly disabled Andrew Farrow with a broken bone in his foot so thank you to both you guys who basically tallied all day. Mark Harris was kind enough to bring the gear trailer along this month for us, along with many of his behind the scene duties he does for our club!

Thank you Mark Pavitt for getting the meat for us and cooking the barby also, and young Locky for doing the other catering duties each month.

It was great to see young Nathan take out the firsts his last wave sealed it for him, I not sure if Nathan has won the firsts before, but I expect it’s the start of things to come, Arron surfed well also with his smooth casual log style. Also great to see Dave Edwards back for a visit, it would be nice to have Dave surf with us every month, glad all is going well for you mate!

When we all go home after each point score and unpack that’s it for us for the day basically, all except Gary Hoban who has to spend a lot of time sorting out and tallying the points for us each month, an onerous task to say the least, and in most cases Andrew Farrow who has to sort the gear out in the trailer for us, on occasions set up our tents to dry etc, a lot of extra work that goes unnoticed and not recognised by us as much as we should, so a very big thank you to both of you for doing these roles along time now!

Remember to get your Winter Classic entry’s in real soon and for everyone whether you are surfing or not, try and be there to set up by around 5.45-6-00am to be ready to start the first heat by 7.00am. It would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Donny Jefferies with the passing of his Dad recently, and Andy Goldie whose mum sadly passed away last week, it’s a very difficult time so our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family’s.

As mentioned at the point score the Layback and Stomp clubs both donated $200.00 each to Crescent Head Malibu club to help replace first aid gear and general club gear in the arson attack of their club caravan destroying all their gear and equipment.

See you in the water hopefully,

Bill.
